The Mulanje Mission Hospital (MMH) is preparing for the COVID-19 epidemic, too. An outbreak in Malawi is extremely likely and will very quickly overwhelm the fragile health system in the country.
MMH is one of the few hospitals in the country with high dependency care facilities and reliable electricity for the provision of oxygen. The hospital expects to see a large number of patients in the event of an outbreak.
MMH have ordered drugs and supplies in advance since this is quickly becoming more expensive or even impossible with the closure of borders. The staff has been trained in the use of personal protective equipment, an area for isolation is being prepared and distancing measures are being taken.
For additional supplies and necessary equipment like oxygen concentrators, extra funds are required. Please consider a donation during this time.
