World Day of Prayer Friday 2nd March 2018

Categories: Bible,Church,Events,Worship

Please join us at the English Reformed Church – Begijnhof 48 – The World Day of Prayer program begins at 10:30 am – All are welcome!

On the first Friday in March each year Christians of many cultures, traditions, and races, in over 170 countries around the world unite in prayer. This is a tradition that began in the U.S. and Canada in the 19th century, and became worldwide in 1927. The continuing motto for this very special day is “Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action”.

The Program for 2018

The theme for 2018 is “All God’s Creation is Very Good” and has been written by the women of Suriname. This is a service where everyone participates and has a part to play.

In case you are interested in finding out more about the International Organisation and the work that they do here is a link to their website.

Here is one of the prayers that you can find on their website – feel free to read it backwards and forwards!

Of the Universe
Of the earth and sea
Of earth’s fruits and of flowers
Of all humans, habitats and creatures
Help us to value and care for your world.
In all its beauty and fragility
In trust for you

We hope to see you on Friday, March 2nd at 10.30 am when We Will Unite in Prayer with People Worldwide.
