Donations from the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
As is the case in The Netherlands, donations are often deductible from (income) tax, the process varies from country to country.
UK Taxpayers
The ERC has made an arrangement with the Church of Scotland so that we can benefit from the UK Government's scheme to reimburse the tax paid on a gift. As a result, any gifts donated to the ERC go even further. In fact, they could be worth 28% more and at no extra cost. Under the UK Government's Gift Aid scheme, the ERC, via the Church of Scotland, can claim back tax already paid on a donation, whatever the size of the gift and regardless of whether it is a one-off gift or a series of gifts. All you need to do is when you make a gift indicate on a UK donation form (which we can supply) that you are a UK taxpayer. The Church of Scotland will do the rest.
In order for the Gift Aid scheme to apply, you must pay an amount of UK income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount that the ERC reclaims on your gifts in the tax year - currently 28p for every ?1 you give. Please notify us if you change your name or address while this declaration is still in force. If your circumstances change and you no longer pay enough tax to cover the amount the ERC will reclaim from the Inland Revenue, you can cancel the declaration at any time by notifying us. It will then not apply to donations you make on or after the date of cancellation or such later date as you specify.
Please contact Jolmer Gerritse for a UK donation form if this applies to you.
(If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your UK Self Assessment tax return.)
